In class we designed an experiment to dissect a fetal pig, to look more in depth into a mammals internal and external features. (WARNING: Pictures may be disturbing to some viewers. Viewers discretion is advised).

This is the fetal pig. A fetal pig is an unborn pig donated for science used in as objects for dissection. Pigs as a mammalian species, provide a good species for the study of physiological systems and processes.

Here, we began to cut the pig on its ventral side.
External Features: Umbilical cord, nipples, thing white hair, female organs.

After cutting the pig open, we carefully took out the majors organs such as; the Thymus, Thyroid, Right Lung, Left Lung, Heart, Gall Bladder, Liver, Spleen, Stomach, Stomach, Small Intestine, Pancreas, large Intestine, Right Kidney, Left Kidney.

Large Intestine
Function: To absorb body water from the matter, and then to pass useless waste material from the body.
Weight: 16 grams
Length: 251 centimeters

Small Intestine
Function: Absorption of nutrients and minerals found in food. Also is where much of the digestion and absorption of food takes place.
Weight: 60.5 grams

Here began the process to dissect the brain. We pounded holes into the skull so we could insert scissors to cut around the brain so we could dissect it.
